What is touch screen

Do you know what is Touch Screen and how does it work? Most of you people use these touch screens in their daily lives. You have come to see them in your Smart Phones, Computers, Laptops, ATM Kiosk etc. and they have also used it. It is very easy to use them, you just have to touch on the screen to do any work. In order to interact with any system, we use the Touch Screen instead of the traditional keyboard and mouse. Further in this post we
Let's know about Touch Screen better.
Even though we have been using this touchscreen for a long time but there are many of us who still do not know how they do all this work. How many types is it and how it is better than the other non-touchscreen device? The touchscreen looks like a display screen but it is also an input device. They work on screen pressures because they are more sensitive to the pressure, but here the user touches the instant pictures and words on the screen to interact with a computer, which creates a pressure in that place and touchscreen that Works according to pressure.

Due to its use, now it has become a part of our lives and we are often using it in all display technology. So today I thought why not give people full information about what the touchscreen is and how it works so that you also get information about this technology. Then without delay, let's start and know what the touch screen is and why you should use this great technology.

What is the touchscreen?

The touchscreens an electronic visual display that a user can control his fingers touching on the screen i.e. can do his job. A touchscreen user gives the opportunity to interact more directly with the system, compared with any mouse.
What is touch screen

Touchscreens have become so common now that in tablet computers, smartphones, and other mobile devices, manufacturers are using the touchscreen in more and more devices instead of the regular screen.

Where we used keyboards and mouse in the computer systems at the end of traditional input devices, for the last few years we have been using these touchscreen technologies in a big way to interact with computers or mobile systems. With this, it is now facilitating the use of traditional input devices with h a regular touchscreen display in regular laptops and desktop computers, so that users have more options to be used.

Touchscreens are used in many different devices such as computers, laptop monitors, smartphones, tablets, cash registers, and information kiosks. In some touchscreens, instead of touch-sensitive input, the grid of infrared beams is also used to feel the presence of fingers.

History of touchscreen

The first idea about touchscreen came to E.A Johnson, who was then working in Royal Radar Establishment, Malvthe then, the UK in the late 1960s. Experts believe that the first touchscreen was the capacitive type, which we now use in our Smartphone.

After that experiment was done the using the touchscreen and then during the early 1970s, the touchscreen was developed by Frank Beck and Bent Stumpe, which was then engineers at CERN at that time. This physical product was first used in 1973.

In 1971, in the touchscreen technology, a new record was established by Doctor George Samuel Hurst, who was then an instructor at the University of Kentucky Research Foundation. He invented a touch sensor, which he called the 'Elograph'. In the year 1974, Hurst collaborated with its Company Elographics to create the world's first real touchscreen with a feature like transparent surface.

In 1977, after continuous efforts, Elographics developed a resistive touchscreen and also patent it on its name. This was the same resistive touchscreen technology, which is very popular on today's touchscreen technologies and we are also using it today. One thing that many do not know is that the first resistive touchscreen was developed by Samuel Hurst in 1975 but it was not produced until 1982 nor used in the world.

Types of Touchscreens

Here we are going to know how many types either of the touchscreens is available and which ones is better for us. Though there are many different types of Touchscreen available I am going to provide information about the touchscreen most commonly used.

  • Resistive
  • Capacitive
  • Surface Wave
  • Infrared

1. Resistive

Resistive touchscreens (which is currently the most popular technology) and which is similar to a "transparent keyboards" which is overlayed at the top of the screen. This is a thin metallic electrically conductive coating on the resistive touch screen panel and there is also a resistive layer which creates changes in the electric current when there is a touch event, that means when someone with a finger above this screen When the stir arises from that, the effect of current also changes, and it is sent to the controller only for processing. This was its technical details now understood in easy language.

In this resistive touchscreen, a flexible upper layer made of polyester plastic is a rigid low layer bond conducting glass and is separated from an insulating membrane. When you press the screen, you force the polyester to touch the glass and so that it completes the circuit - like when you press a keyboard key. Stealth chip inside the screen reveals your coordinates of where you touched that screen.

These Resistive touch screen panels are more affordable than others, but they provide only clarity of 75% and this layer can be easily damaged by any sharp object. Resistive touch screen panels also do not impair other external elements such as dust or water.

2. Capacitive

A capacitive touch screen panel is coated with components that store electrical charges. Whenever the panel is touched, the charge of a small amount of that little contact is drawn and drawn. Circuit, which is located at the corner of the panel, measure the charge, send all information to the controller from the process. This capacitive touchscreen panel works by touching fingers and does not work with plastic or any other object. With the help of this capacitive touchscreen, other external components can not flow much more and they are very high transparency.

This screen is made of many layers of glass. Its interior layer is the same in the level of the behavior and the same outer layer, so this screen effectively treats that, because the two electrical conductor is different due to the insulator, so it is called a capacitor. We put our fingers on the screen, you also change its electrical field. We can touch this capacitive screen at multiple places and it works well.

3. Surface wave

Surface wave technology uses ultrasonic waves which are at the top of the touch screen panel. When you touch the panel, it absorbs a small part of the wave. With the same changes of ultrasonic waves, it detects the touch area and sends the controller information for processing. Surface Wave Touch Screen Panels are mostly of an advanced type, but easily damaged by external elements.

4. Infrared

Like the magical light in the infrared alarms, the LEDs' LEDs and light detectors use photocell grid patterns in the same infrared touchscreen. It is arranged in the opposite side of the screen. These LEDs come from the infrared light which comes from the front of the screen - you can say it sounds like an invisible spider's web, if you touch the screen on the screen, then you come to that beam or stop. Calculates the microchip on the screen where you have blocked them, and accordingly, the process has been sent to the controller so that the process is processed. You can use it even if you touch the screen without any other thing than a finger.

Next, I'm going to provide information about how does it work? and some less common touchscreen technology.
